What is Silicon Steel? CRGO and CRNGO silicon steel ?

Silicon steel, also known as electrical steel, is a special steel that contains a high proportion of silicon (usually 1-4%). Due to its excellent magnetic properties, silicon steel is widely used in electrical equipment, especially the core components of transformers, motors and generators. Silicon steel has the characteristics of high electrical resistance and low hysteresis loss, making it very efficient in these applications.

Silicon steel is divided into two main types:

1. CRGO (cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel)

Structure and characteristics: CRGO silicon steel is produced by a cold rolling process, and the grains of the steel are oriented in a specific direction. This oriented structure makes its magnetic permeability in the direction of the magnetic field very high, which can significantly reduce energy losses. CRGO silicon steel is suitable for applications that require directional flux flow, such as transformers.

Application areas: CRGO silicon steel is mainly used to manufacture the core materials of electrical equipment such as transformers, large motors and generators. Its excellent oriented magnetic properties enable it to significantly reduce magnetic energy losses in high-efficiency transformers and improve equipment efficiency.

Advantages:

Compared with non-oriented steel, CRGO has lower magnetic losses and hysteresis losses.

Improve the efficiency of transformers and electrical equipment.

2. CRNGO (Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel)

Structure and Characteristics: CRNGO silicon steel is different from CRGO in that it has no specific grain orientation, so the magnetism is relatively uniform in all directions. Although CRNGO is not as efficient as CRGO in some applications, it still has good magnetism and is suitable for many electrical devices.

Application Areas: CRNGO silicon steel is mainly used to manufacture motors, small transformers and generators, etc., especially for applications where the magnetic field direction is not fixed. It is also widely used in household appliances such as power tools, household appliances, and motors in electric vehicles.

Advantages:

CRNGO performs better in applications with high requirements for multi-directional magnetization.

Suitable for small motors, household appliances and electric vehicles, etc.

Main differences between CRGO and CRNGO:

Magnetic properties: CRGO has an oriented grain structure and higher magnetic permeability in a specific direction, which is suitable for equipment that requires directional flux flow (such as transformers); while CRNGO has uniform magnetism in all directions, which is suitable for applications such as motors where the magnetic field direction is uncertain.

Application Range: CRGO is mainly used for equipment such as high-efficiency transformers and generators, while CRNGO is suitable for smaller applications such as motors and household appliances.

In summary, CRGO and CRNGO silicon steels are two types of electrical steel materials designed according to magnetic properties and application requirements, and each plays an important role in different electrical equipment.
